Starting this fall, Camp Wingra is taking the same approach to outdoor learning and exploration that it uses in the summer and expanding it to a 6-week program this fall on Fridays.
Camp Wingra has designed a hands-on, nature-based learning program designed to enrich your child’s homeschool curriculum through meaningful exploration and individualized education. Over the course of this 6-week session, students will investigate the Lake Wingra ecosystem and its surrounding watershed, deepening their understanding of environmental science through guided inquiry, observation, and outdoor discovery.

Students will enjoy nature games, creative projects, and outdoor adventures while simultaneously building a solid foundation in ecological principles, limnology, critical thinking, and environmental stewardship.

Fall camps will meet on Fridays at Wingra Boats (824 Knickerbocker St, Madison, WI) either from 9a-12p or 1-4pm, depending on the age group. Each group will have a max of 8 kids with two instructors. Our instructors are previous Camp Wingra counselors with their BAs in environmental sciences and have extensive experience working with kids.

This is a drop-off program that will be held outdoors, with the option of indoor learning spaces in case of severe weather.

I have also taught environmentally focused classes at Riveredge Nature Center, Edgewood Campus School, Blessed Sacrament, and Madison Country Day School. I graduated from Edgewood University in May 2025, earning my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies and Earth Science. I’m returning to Edgewood in the fall to earn my teaching certification. I love biking around Madison, writing songs, fishing, and exploring the outdoors!

My name is Patrick and I have been a summer camp counselor for the past 3 years. I was born and raised in Madison and have a lot of appreciation for the city and love serving its youth and others through education. I recently graduated from Edgewood College with a degree in Environmental Studies. I am very interested in educating as it is something that I know has a strong impact on our community as a city and on a global scale. When I am not working I love to spend time outdoors biking, skiing, and spending time with friends and family.
