ABOUT CAMP WINGRA STAFF
Camp Wingra Director
I grew up on Lake Wingra, jumping off paddle boats and learning to paddle board. I got my first job at Wingra Boats at 14 and then later helped create the first year of Camp Wingra before leaving to join the Peace Corps. In 2015, I moved back to Madison after coordinating REI's Outdoor Programs on the East Coast, because Wingra Boats has always been home. I have two little boys, Justice and Caspian, and during the year we spend most of our days outside exploring and getting dirty.
Previous Camp Wingra Director
I am a retired elementary school teacher, and have coordinated Camp Wingra for over 7 years. Although I am not in the same role as I have been before, I will still be around the boat houses paddling, planting flowers, as well as working with Summer and the counselors.
"My daughter cannot stop talking about Pirate (Ahoy Matey) Camp, and she is begging me to attend another session this summer!"
“I want to thank you for a wonderful summer of amazing camps. Your counselors are creating such lifelong memories for our campers. Wingra Boats has a special place in our heart.”
“I wanted to let you know that our son has had a great time at your after school program. It’s an added bonus that you’re providing important life skills. Great program!”
“I can't thank you enough. My son had a blast every day. We loved all the staff.”
“It was an honor to fish with these fine young gentlemen and I hope to see them on the water in the future!”
Very Best Regards,
Jeff Reinke, Fly Fishing Guest Instructor
“WOW! What an incredibly fun day! You guys are so dynamic and responsive — may our children grow up to be wonderful humans like you! ”
“ I miss camp so much. I don't think I can see myself doing anything else BUT Camp Wingra with my last summer in college. I would love more than anything to come back.” (2017 & 2018 counselor)
“The success of your amazing camps depends on small numbers and fabulous counselors. Please know that we will definitely be back for more Pirate Camp (Ahoy Matey) next summer, and we will be recruiting friends to attend as well!”
“I constantly see the hard work, passion, and love that the counselors pour into the camps. It is wonderful to hear counselors praising campers and see the kids’ enjoyment.”
“ I was thinking on my way home from picking my son up yesterday that I should reach out to YOU to thank you for always hiring the best of the best counselors. "
“ It is always the counselors who my son remembers in January when I ask if he wants to sign up again...and he quickly answers “yes” without hesitation. Thank you for making this a place that all three of my kids want to go to every single summer! Camp Wingra is so special. ”
“We appreciate the emails and pictures from all of the camps. We recognize how much effort this takes for all of the staff and we want you to know this is well worth it. The relationships built with campers keeps them coming back year after year.”
"Thank you so much for such an amazing week! Our daughter absolutely loved Girls Do It All and is already talking about taking it again next year. "
"Thank you so much for a great week of camp! My son had so much fun. Thanks for all of the effort you put into making it a great first week of summer break!"
