The life-changing power of a camp experience is undeniable!

Come join Camp Wingra's Family, where our mission is to combine personalized fishing and paddling instruction, environmental education, team building, safety and a lot of FUN!  New friends, positive values, personal growth, great adventures, and an appreciation for our Madison lakes are the foundations of the Camp Wingra experience!

Campers from kindergarten grade thru high school are welcome, and we pride ourselves on hiring the best counselors and having a low camper-staff ratio.  Create a safe and memorable summer for your child; send them to Camp Wingra, Madison’s premier water camp!  Registration will begin in January, and our camps fill up quickly, so don’t wait!

Summer Jarosky

Camp Wingra Director

I grew up on Lake Wingra, jumping off paddle boats and learning to paddle board. I got my first job at Wingra Boats at 14 and then later helped create the first year of Camp Wingra before leaving to join the Peace Corps. In 2015, I moved back to Madison after coordinating REI's Outdoor Programs on the East Coast, because Wingra Boats has always been home. I have two little boys, Justice and Caspian, and during the year we spend most of our days outside exploring and getting dirty.

Camp Wingra Consultant

I  am a retired elementary school teacher, and coordinated Camp Wingra for over 7 years. Although I am not in the same role as I have been before, I will still be around the boat houses paddling, planting flowers, as well as working with Summer and the counselors.

Large Mouth Luke

My real name is Luke (often called Large Mouth Luke) and for the eighth year I will be one of the fishing counselors at Camp Wingra. I just finished my 5th year teaching choir/music at East High School and I love teaching everything from singing to fishing. I am incredibly passionate about fostering a love for the outdoors and hope to pass on my love for fishing to your child. Having spent a year interacting and building relationships through zoom, I couldn't be happier to spend my summer outside working with young people. I am so lucky to be able to spend my summer doing this awesome work and hope we can all cherish the simplicity of being outdoors together.

Hey everyone! I am so excited to spend this summer with all of you. This is my first Summer at Camp Wingra and I know it's going to be a great one. I have been kayaking, paddle boarding, and swimming at Lake Wingra since I was a kid and they are some of the best memories from my childhood. When I am not at Camp you can find me kayaking, camping, biking, and my favorite, watching the sunrise/sunset. I am so happy I get to spend this summer making fun memories with you all :)

Hi all, my name is Molly and this will be my first summer working at Camp Wingra! I am currently a sophomore at the University of Rochester where I am studying History. I used to work as a camp counselor in Minnesota so I love camp & I am thrilled to be a part of the Camp Wingra team. In the summer, my favorite things to do are run, hike, paddle board, & waterski. I can’t wait to meet all of the campers and counselors and spend the summer boating, swimming, & exploring with everyone!

Hello Campers! This will be my first summer as a counselor at Camp Wingra, so here is a little bit about myself. I just finished my junior year at UW-Madison studying Psychology and Social Welfare. I work at a little cafe during the school semesters, and this past year I learned some barista skills! When it is warm enough, you can often find me hiking, biking, swimming, boating or relaxing outside listening to an audiobook. (I am a little late to the party, but last summer I listened to all of the Harry Potter books for the first time). I am excited to get to know everyone, and I can't wait to have tons of fun on the lake with you!

Hey Campers! I'm going to be one of your fishing counselors this summer. This is my 3rd summer with Camp Wingra but I used to be a camper myself when I was younger. I'm really looking forward to getting back to camps this summer and seeing all you again after being kept inside for so long. I'm going into my Junior year at Minnesota State University- Mankato, where I'm majoring in Environmental Science. I love spending time outdoors, whether it's skiing in the winter or going out fishing or hiking in the summer. I'm really excited to get out on the water with you all this summer and see all the fish we catch!

“Hi campers and families! I’m Elizabeth, and I’m so excited to meet all of you this summer! I’m a recent graduate of UW Madison with a major in elementary and special education, and I’m so passionate about learning alongside kids of all ages. When I’m not teaching, I’m usually spending time outside running, paddling, or playing my trumpet in the UW marching band! This will be my third summer at Camp Wingra and I’m so ready to spend my summer back on the water with some amazing people."

Hey campers! During the school year, I’m a student at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse studying biology. During the summer, I will be outside doing something active and sporty! Some of my favorite summer activities include basketball, swimming, and football. One fun fact about me is that I speak Norwegian and travel to Norway every other year to visit my extended family. I’m super excited to spend the summer with Camp Wingra and can’t wait to get on the water.

Hey everyone! My name's Matt and I just finished my junior year studying neurobiology at UW-Madison! This summer is gonna be a lot of fun, it's been a bit since I've worked at a summer camp and I'm really excited to spend another summer doing it! Outside of school and work, I love to downhill ski in the winter and mountain bike in the other seasons. I also love canoeing, kayaking, and really anything outdoors! It's gonna be a great summer with all of you!

Hi! I just finished my freshman year at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse studying Exercises Sports Science.  I’m very excited for my first year as a camp counselor this summer!  I love being outdoors fishing, hiking, boating, and kayaking.  I also love to be active and play sports with my friends.  I’m so excited to meet everyone and have such a fun summer!

Hello campers and families! My name is Abigail Marty, and I am SO excited to be spending the summer with all of you! I will be attending UW- Madison this year majoring in atmospheric and oceanic sciences after spending my freshman year in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula attending Northern Michigan University. When I’m not in school, I’m busy exploring the world as an avid car camper. My favorite activities are kayaking, fishing, hiking, bat monitoring, sunset chasing, stargazing and astro-photography, and my favorite, dog mushing. I’m an all-weather person. When I’m not out enjoying the sunshine, I’m storm-spotting with other ham radio operators (my call sign is KC9CAT) for the National Weather Service’s volunteer Skywarn organization. Perhaps more than anything else, I’m extremely passionate about the conservation and understanding of our natural world, and I hope to share this with all of you! I’ll see you all very soon!
