Summer Jarosky
Camp Wingra Director

Summer's connection to Wingra began early—she grew up jumping off paddleboats, learning to paddleboard on a windsurf board, and swimming across the lake. At 14 she began working for Wingra Boats, and later in 2007, she founded Camp Wingra before leaving to serve in the Peace Corps.

Before returning to Madison in 2015, Summer worked as the REI Outdoor Programs Coordinator in New York. She went on to manage Wingra Boats for four years before stepping into the role of Camp Wingra Director in 2020.

During the school year, Summer homeschools her three boys—Justice (7), Caspian (6), and Sonny (3). When she’s not at camp, you’ll usually find her outdoors biking, paddling, hiking, or fishing with her husband and boys, sharing the same love of nature and adventure that shaped her own childhood on Lake Wingra.

Favorite Paddle Craft: Paddle Board

This will be my third summer at Camp Wingra, and I’m so excited to be back! I’m currently a senior at UW–Madison studying nursing and chemistry, with the goal of becoming a labor and delivery nurse. I’ve grown up around lakes my whole life, so it’s no surprise that swimming is my favorite part of summer. I also love stand-up paddleboarding and make it a goal each year to perfect my dive off the board!

Favorite Fish to Catch & Paddle Craft: Largemouth Bass and SUP

I’ve been fishing my entire life, competing in bass fishing tournaments throughout high school, and I now work as a fly fishing guide and instructor. I have a deep appreciation for Wisconsin’s wildlife habitats and waterways, and I’m passionate about educating youth on how outdoor hobbies can both positively and negatively impact these environments—and how we can responsibly care for them. In my free time, I enjoy skiing, basketball, making music, and, of course, fishing!

Hi! I was born and raised in Florida but love to visit Madison during the summers to spend time with my extended family. I am entering my junior year of college at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. I value the sunshine above almost everything else and enjoy spending my free time at the beach or exploring our beautiful natural springs. When the sun isn't out or I have a busy day ahead of me, I always like to take an hour of my day to practice some yoga or swim some laps to reconnect with myself. This is my first summer at Camp Wingra and I look forward to spending it together!!
